About Me Dan Quartermain
My interest in thatching started at an early age whilst working weekends and school holidays for a local thatcher in the village of Hook Norton which in 1985 led to a four year apprenticeship. I started working for myself in 1990 and have steadily built a small personal company.
Time has been spent training other young apprentices and supporting organisations such as The Prince’s Trust. Working on every roof myself supported by my dedicated team we focus on one contract at a time to give it our full attention to ensure the highest quality, this has resulted in a constant high demand for our service and being chosen to thatch some of the country’s most important properties, including Anne Hathaway’s cottage.
We are the instructors for the
Cotswold rural skills thatching courses.
We are advocates of the thatching industries green credentials, with its renewable source materials and also recycle the waste material to animal bedding which is then composted to be spread back on the fields. Every thatch we work on is an advert for the next so we are constantly pushing for the best results.
